Bones is an American drama television series on the Fox Network. The show is a forensics and police procedural in which each episode focuses on an FBI case file concerning the mystery behind human remains brought by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth to the forensic anthropology team of Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan.
Despite Brennan’s extensive knowledge of anthropology, she is quite unaware of pop culture; her co-workers, particularly Agent Booth, like to tease her about it. A running gag on the series is someone making an obvious popular culture reference and she blankly states, “I don't know what that means”, and she is somewhat excited on the rare occasion that she does understand them. The use of “I don’t know what that means” shows the difference in different characters' personalities and is most often used to show how different Bones and Booth are. When Dr. Brennan is kidnapped by the Grave Digger, Booth says to Zack, “You have to be Dr. Brennan,” to which Zack ironically replies, “I don’t know what that means.” The first season of the FOX TV series Bones premiered on September 13, 2005 and concluded on May 17, 2006. An SUV explodes outside a cafe, killing several civilians. When Dr. Brennan confirms the identity of the deceased driver to be the leader of the Arab-American Friendship League, the authorities suspect the man to be a terrorist. Through examining the human remains of the driver, Brennan and her team are able to help Agent Booth to find the killer and stop a potential terrorist act involving the President.
